Essential Eddie Murphy Films

Amazon.com
Eddie Murphy's film career has been a story of ups and downs and constant reinvention. During his highly popular years (1981-84) on Saturday Night Live, Murphy also made a huge impression on the big screen in the bruising drama-comedies 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop and in the clever Trading Places. Sequels, weak scripts, niche concert films, and a botched experiment with directing (Harlem Nights) followed, a period in which Murphy played everything from a monster to a senator to a romantic lead--with mixed results. With The Nutty Professor, Murphy found renewed respect as a first-rate character actor, and he has worked prolifically in that vein since.
