About the Author
Margaret Drabble was born in Sheffield, England, in 1939 and read English at Cambridge University. Her novels include The Gates of Ivory, The Ice Age, The Realms of Gold, A Summer Bird Cage, and The Waterfall. She is also the editor of The Oxford Companion to English Literature.
