Few, if any, artists have done more to shape rock & roll than Bob Dylan. Indeed, he had become the irrefutable embodiment of '60s protest music and folk-rock before celebrating his 25th birthday. Songwriters from the Beatles on have measured their lyrics against those Dylan penned in the course of a few frantic years in the mid '60s. He went on to make landmark country and confessional recordings and racked up new triumphs in his 50s, when many had written him off as a significant artist.
