Built to Spill Recommendations

A product of Boise, Idaho's surprisingly vibrant early-1990s rock scene, Built to Spill is the brainchild of guitarist Doug Martsch, who is also renowned for his roles in Treepeople and the Halo Benders. Remarkably idiosyncratic, Martsch composes thoughtful guitar rock on a grand scale. Using a revolving set of musicians, he creates epics featuring layers of overdubs set against lyrics that are both idyllic and wistful.
